Comic Fiesta 2007

It was a blast!

-the end-

PS: For now, I really want to watch the movie "P.S. I love you"! I cried just watching the trailer. (Sigh, I cry too easily.) Am still too tired and dazed from the weekend. Lol. Will be leeching off more photos from the forum and from friends =D

Tales of Pirates

November.8.2007:Thursday
Yes People! My finals ENDED yesterday! And ever since then, I've been immersed in a dream world called Tales of Pirates. I've been waiting to play this game ever since I got it in August. I must be pretty patient. **self praise** xD Anyway, here's me taking a short break from that game to tell you guys that... I am fine, free, happy, free and will definitely be playing tales of pirates until attachments starts! XD

Free Rice =D

freerice.com
Go give it a try XD It's a sister site of poverty.com and it's actually a word-guessing game where you have to guess the meaning of words. Each time you guess a word right you are donating 10 grains of rice (10 grains per word) to help in eradicating world hunger. It started on October the 7th but I've only started playing recently. xD It's just perfect for someone like me who loves words for just being words. =)

November.2.2007:Friday
After enjoying a nice cup of americano, I find myself in need of studying but every single part of me wants to just stop time and sleep. A good friend said that the brain works best if you give it a 15 minutes rest for every 45 minutes you put it to work. So I'll do just that. xD

Romeo x Juliet
It ended at episode 24. I was completely touched by the ending; then again I'm the type who cries very easily. Well, if you're the type who thinks that Romeo (the one in this series) is not a very strong character, you will definitely think differently about him in this episode. The ending was somewhat bittersweet. Especially since it's based on Shakespeare's play, I really thought that this ending was perfect. Overall, it was satisfactory for me.

That day, I think shadow was the only one who completed her outfit. Both Goku and I still have a long way to go =( I need a wig ><

Quotidian

October.20.2007:Saturday
I'm officially bored. Although I should be studying, I find myself wasting 5 good days of a week to do absolutely nothing. And my library book got overdued again (2nd time T____T).

Anyway, I'm extremely excited about the coming comic fiesta (December 15-16, 2007). I know, still a long way away... but many of us are already getting prepared for it! Kyu's getting her stuff ready to sell and a bunch of us are busy getting materials to cosplay! It'll be my first time. I think I've finally been influenced too much. But I don't think it'll be something I might regret.

Today, I'll be going shopping for props! Wish me luck xD

Fear is such a troublesome thing.
It governs what should not be governed.
It decides when decisions should not be made.
It turns what should not be turned.

I can't sleep tonight. The mosquitoes are keeping me awake. The television in my brother's room is left turned on but no one is watching. To enter that room and do what's right would be to confront a certain presence I do not wish to see or think about. I'm sleepy but I don't dare to go into the room to sleep >.<

Found another cool thing. Got this from Sam's blog this time. She found it in Frankston VIC and I was quite surprised to find one in Petaling Jaya too. Genting August 2007

August.31.2007:Friday
Was quite excited about today (plus going through the two nights before without sleep) so I was asleep at about 10++ last night. And yet, I woke up late. Su Ann had to call me up, too. I had only 15 minutes to get ready. At least it was enough. I think.

The whole day was full of fun! We didn't rush for anything and we didn't have to wait much for anything. We walked a lot, talked a lot, and well, I don't think we ate a lot but we did finish up the 20 sausages Mun Khea and I-Fen prepared for us to eat (thanks i-fen!! thanks mun k!!).

I tried rock climbing! Played archery... probably things I could have done back in Klang/Subang too but... we had so much fun! Su Ann, I-Fen, and Mun K went for the flying coaster without me; since I know I won't be enjoying it that much. Ooo!! Before that, they had lunch at the "Kopitiam" on the same floor as where the bowling alleys were. There was a stall selling claypot meals and it was both good and affordable! Imagine, 6.80rm per meal! Too bad I got cheated earlier into eating chee cheong fan for 7.50rm. T.T That was rather miserable. I had lots of coffee though. ^^ We even visited the LGT gallery after our coffee/cake/pie break at the coffee terrace in the First World Plaza. I had my favourite icy irish cream with mango cake. Su Ann and I-Fen had pie with coffee.

The cable car ride back down from GH was amusing. It was raining before and looking down the hill wasn't exactly my cup of tea. The sounds of the gondola swaying on the cable, and the wheels rushing through each... err.. pole? the structures holding the cables up every few meters or so. Well, let's just say my heart skipped a beat each time that happens.

Arriving at the Awana cable car station allowed us to go shopping before the bus arrives. We did manage to reach an hour and a half before it was time. (Stupid taxi drivers were telling us we wouldn't make it and that we should just catch a ride with them. =.=) Anyway, we tried out snacks and stuff. The Malaysian sotong pedas, sweets, and what-nots. Usually stuff that I wouldn't eat. But.. since Su Ann bought sotong pedas.. I ate xD

We even visited the 10 amazing animals wonderland or whatever it was called! It was supposed to be 12 per person per entry but we each got a 5 ringgit discount since we were students in a group of 4. =P Mun K has all our pictures! >.< Will be waiting for her to send them over.. Once she does, I'll probably upload them at my multiply site.

The journey back was through the dark of night, down the hills from Genting Highlands, to Gombak, through LRT, to KL Central, and finally to Klang through KTM. It was a long ride. I was making a fuss about how painful my legs were too. My calves felt as though my pain sensors were working overtime. It felt stiff and painful when I walked! I guess it was a good thing too then when I went home earlier. The others went for fried chicken I think. Dinner. Oh yes, I didn't have dinner. I went home, got online for a few minutes, and went to bed. Which was a good thing. I do have a field trip to go to tomorrow.

Tom Lehrer

"I wish people who have trouble communicating would just shut up."

August.21.2007:Tuesday
Do I? Truly? When I think about my lecturer, yes, I would consider that true. When I think about salesmen unable to communicate with me because I refuse to speak to them in chinese, yes, I would consider it true. When I think about those trying hard and yet failing, will that still be counted as true? Then, I start thinking about those who are timid, and yet are trying so hard to speak up. And those who know the limits to their own communication skills, but is doing their best to set a whole new limit for themselves.

Communication is such a troublesome thing. Getting a point accross had always been more than enough for me. Although, there are times when, getting the point accross takes more skill than necessary. Why? Hurdles of shyness, embarassement, fear, and even the lack of confidence are often in the way. Worrying if the one you're talking to is going to reject you, laugh at you, not react in the way you expect, be offended; or worse still... stares blankly at you as though you've made no sense. At that time, does "getting the point accross" matter anymore?

I can all but wonder.

-koRi-

Tom Lehrer also said...
There used to be certain words you couldn't say in front of a girl. Now, you can say them, but you can't say 'girl.'

PS: Found this amongst quotes from Tom Lehrer. It was cute. Cynical and... definitely not true. Right?

My Milk Teddy Wallet

びくりちゃあ~~
今日は何が有ったんだ知ってる?
Milk Teddy パースがどしってもダムップ出来ないんじゃ!
ちょお attached の感じ有るだからさ!
私、中に見たいの時、いっぱい者が見つかってんだ!

Was sort of surprised at myself today. Did you know what happened? Well, we went on this shopping spree last Friday (two of us did, the other 3 were watching a movie). I bought myself a purse on that day, to replace my current one since the coin pouch tore a long time ago and was dropping coins everywhere. So, today, when I had the time to sit down and move my stuff over, I got sentimental. (That was why I was surprised.)

This white purse contained so much of my stuff that I couldn't bear throwing it away. There were business cards and little notes from people I want to keep in contact with or cafés and restaurants I want to visit, club membership cards from uni and elsewhere, loyalty cards, encouragement cards, calendars, photos… There were just so many (rubbish, I know, but still…)! Even though they could almost fit into the new one, I just couldn't throw the purse away just because the new one could "just fit" but the old one could "fit everything and still have space for more". That was why I like it so much. It always has room for more and will always make room.

いい感じだ!

Routine

If work is all I have to do,
Is not my life extremely dull?
Mundane to the point of predictability,
Sleep deprivation,
Odd waking hours,
Irregular eating habits,
Signs of time unmanaged.

Uni life is nothing but a pile of assignments waiting to be completed. I wish I had the time now to just lean back and stare at the clouds as they float by. Or to read a book and travel to worlds in dreams.

Plant Depression

The title says it all. I'm depressed. It wasn't because my plants were dying from too much nitrogen. I've already known about that a whole week ago. Depression came today when my lecturer announced to the whole lab that our group weren't watering our plants often enough. That sucked. Particularly since I've checked with my group mates if they've watered that day or not. The plants were alive and healthy on Friday last week too =( Guess it probably had to do with the weekend. Too many hostelites gone back home and no one around to water them. I suppose it wasn't alright after all, not watering the plants for half a day, that is.

That was probably something you guys didn't need to hear. Still, I couldn't help but thought that today's quote would have been more useful last week than this week. All the signs were there telling us we've overdosed the nitrogen but I've just ignored them, thinking nothing too bad can happen. Maybe that was really why I got depressed.

To Truly Blog

In the past, my whole purpose of blogging was to enhance my html skills and to put up songs for request. Now that I no longer have songs to give out, I've decided to blog for blogging's sake. No point updating about my site if there's nothing I can change in it and no point updating little excerpts of my life in short incomplete sentences if my life is really just that - excerpts. Well, I'll type out more.

August 12, 2007: Sunday

I didn't go to church today. Slept since 5.30pm yesterday, waking up only for dinner, and sleeping all the way till 8.30am when my dad finally decided to come see if I'm up. I wasn't. He gave me Jujubes instead ^^ Cough drops ^^ So I spent most of my day watching anime, chatting with friends, writing up reports, blogging, reading/sending emails, in other words, the usual.

My brother chased me back to Australia coz I told him I was depressed coming back home to Malaysia T___T Now I'm depressed again T___T Not only that!! He took a picture of me sleeping! >.<

My parents don't get it. They believe by just cleaning out the leaves jutting out from that hole so that it looks like there's no hole they've solved the problem. They don't get how it feels like to wake up with black stuff all over your bed and sometimes waking up with dead insects beside you (I cover myself with a blanket though. Don't trust them when they said they've solved the problem). They don't get moving the bed away just make it less okay (you still get black stuff and insects). They don't get that when it rains, more black stuff and insects will drop down. They just don't get it because it's not them sleeping in that room! There, I've said it out. (They still didn't get it after I said what I said to them.)

Anyway, life moves on and they'll probably have to really do something soon or else my poor brother will never get his room to himself ever until I move out.

Born To Fly 2007

- Amelia Earhart -
"The most effective way to do it, is to do it."

Born to fly was a kids holiday program held at Albany Rise Primary School from July 5th till July 7th, 2007. It was truly three days of good fun; even though I was down with a bad flu/cough/illness.. whatever it was. Was quite afraid that I would infect little kids with my constant coughing >.< But they weren't infected, so all's good ^^.

The kids were so cute!!! I had 6 in my group =) 7 on the second day. But 6 on the other days. They were lovely and obedient. They really came to participate and do stuff at BTF. My kids may not have gotten a lot of points for the group but they were noticed as being very helpful and obedient. And one of my kids got the overall outstanding kid award (I made the name up coz I can't remember what it was actually called xD;;;).

I remembered helping out to distribute flyers and finding out how everything was prepared for this programme. Everyone did their part and no one really complained! That was the best part! Actually, it was the best part of my whole stay in Australia. So little complaining heard! No one around me complained!! Only once in awhile, but I hear encouragement more than anything else. It was good.

Compared to VBS, this really felt small scale and much more.. meaningful. I remembered being part of 3 team leaders taking care of 15 over kids for four days! And unlike BTF, VBS was a full four days 3 nights event! It was really cool too! In VBS, everything was done in parts as in, the deco committee worked on their own, the team leaders were trained on their own, the kitchen committee were an entirely different set of people, and everyone did what they did separately. This was the biggest difference I saw. Maybe it was because we had the resources and could afford to have so many people serving for VBS but.. let's just say I was really impressed to see how much this church could do for BTF. It cannot be compared to VBS at all!

The experience was great! Definitely =)

PS: was writing this on the 7th of July... That's pretty long ago.. Guess I don't remember much anymore. But I will remember that.. for their church, with what resources they had.. it was an increadible feat!

July.19.2007:Thursday
When I read that quote, I couldn't help but think how cynical that sounds! Then I thought about the few days I've been back home - talking to my parents, friends, listening to news and whatever it is people share with each other when they chat - and realized, everyone around me was just as cynical! Unable to believe the best out of people and unable to believe the best out of themselves. (Generally speaking. Probably not true for anyone.)

PS: I think I wrote this too long ago and forgot to post it. Heh. Forgot where I was going with this too. Probably towards the fact that I found myself becoming more cynical each day since I got home. Maybe.

quiescent

at rest; still; inactive.

June.15.2007:Friday
+ rare occurrence: I did laundry +
+ had lunch in the city ^^ +

Today's word, quiescent, really describes my day. After yesterday's depressing exam, I could only think about anything else other than that exam. Don't think I want to think about it anymore. Darn, I'm still thinking about it.

Anyway, I've been following Darker Than Black, Kaze no Stigma, Romeo x Juliet, and Claymore lately and here's what I think about them.

For storyline, I'd say Claymore and Romeo x Juliet ranks the highest as the most interesting. While you'd think Romeo x Juliet should be predictably following William Shakespeare's version, well, it isn't. Check it out here! Darker than Black is mediocre to some extend. While the main theme of contractors with powers and an obeisance* is interesting an all, the story isn't building up very well IMO (*an act they have to perform after they use their powers, could be as simple as drinking or singing). Kaze no Stigma however, is just... too predictable. o.o I'm following for the sake of following with the hope that there's something deeper to it. If there isn't, and it's something lame, I'd be disappointed.

The only other thing I look at besides storyline is: artwork. And, they're all good. xD Claymore and DTB have dark themes so the colouring is like that. Kaze no Stigma is... comical, and I guess that's why it's so brightly coloured. Ah, Romeo x Juliet's just sweet... love the pastel/soft colour theme the anime's going with. The character designs, backgrounds, etc. etc., all good. No complains whatsoever.

Hmm... didn't pick out any good background music from any of these anime. Or at least, I didn't find one that I like. DTB's opening song wasn't... pleasant, to me. Darn, I miss Hunter x Hunter, FMA, and all those really cool anime with super cool OSTs. If I had to name an ongoing anime with good OST, I'd have to say Bleach and Naruto. I like their OP and ED themes. xD Now I really miss watching anime like Ouran High School Host Club.

+ hadn't wrote that much in a while +
+ feels good. +
+ in case you're wondering, I couldn't study +

Living Beyond "Myself"

"By faith, I will serve; and wait upon the Lord."

June.02.2007:Saturday
Was at Citylife church today. They were preaching the last message for the series "living beyond myself". It was about serving and the attitude of those who spent their whole lives serving. They were people who knew that serving was not about them (or 'me'; we'd definitely breakdown along the way and give up if we're truly serving for ourselves), that it was not about 'now' (but what happens after we've lived our short life here on earth), that the only approval that matters is the one from above, and that they have found their purpose and they can feel God's pleasure. So, serving was really about doing it out of love for God and for the very purpose of pleasing Him.

Really simple message; but, I couldn't help thinking about a conversation I had just the Monday night before. In that conversation, we were sharing about how timely God is when he speaks to us, how timely sermons can sometimes be, and how I wanted to serve. So, yea, I can't help but wonder how timely this message was. Out of the verses in the sermon, I think Hebrews 11 was the one the spoke to me most.

Apparently, I can download sermon notes from their website and download sermon mp3s too.

April.27.2007:Friday
+ was at Hamer Hall for the concert: A Night in Fantasia Symphonic Games Edition by Eminence +
+ + stayed over at kyu's +

The Symphonic Gaming Edition was a concert I was so glad I attended; that was about a week ago. There was a good crowd and the orchestra was splendid. The pianist and organist was awesome too! I had my disappointments though when they started with a song from Final Fantasy but when I heard pieces from Metal Gear Solid, the Legend of Mana, Super Mario Brothers even. I was swept away. And the encore! While I am not and will never be good with names, I will remember the two pieces they performed for the encore for a long, long time. They were really good!

2nd Month in Melbourne

April.02.2007:Monday
Let's just say I've been lazy and I haven't found the time to sit in front of the computer (except now) to type out anything other than assignments. =P

I can't say I've been to places but I have been visiting the city, attending events, seeing different festivals, making friends, and I'm trying very hard to go places. xD That said, I'm going to Phillip Island this Easter to join the Oceania Convention 2007. I found out about it through the church I'm currently attending, Hope Melbourne: Waverley Center, a church that came to me rather than me actually finding out about it. (God worked it out somehow, He definitely knows the people I want to meet and what I'm looking for in a church because I found everything exactly as I thought it should be right here.)

+ was too lazy to go to the 9 AM lab session +
+ going at 12 PM... don't worry +
+ have important assignments to finish +

April.01.2007:Sunday
+ passed my guitar test =D +

March.31.2007:Saturday
+ watched TMNT! It was great! +

Hmm... Other movies I've watched so far here are Man of the Year and The Illusionist. Both were good but I'd say they can definitely do better. I thought the first one was supposed to be funny and the second one was supposed to be sort of like a thriller (the way I thought I'd see fancy magicworks between two wizards in The Prestige =P ). The Prestige was awesome though!

Equanimity

"calmness; composure."

January.06.2007:Saturday
+ had lunch with yvonne & joo @ 1U +
+ cell group in my house for this month +
+ spent 1,000 g on vending license here +

Today I saw a sight that made me smile in my heart. A small dream that came true when and where I would not expect. Make that 2.

I had lunch with 2 very, very good friends from two different circles of friends I have. That was the first small dream. I've always wanted to know if I could bring any of them out together and can still be able to hang out. I'm glad we did. While we walked and chatted and ate, my heart was smiling inside. Really.

The second small dream happened later in the evening. It's not what I expected at all. I've been yearning, or wondering, for a time when I can read in an environment where everyone else wants to read too; together in the same place. My cell group was at my place and my little dream came true when we were asked if we had finished our week's worth of bible reading. Most of us haven't. >.>;;;;; So we all took out our bibles and started reading. When I looked around, my heart just smiled. I was pleased to see what I saw. People reading. It's a very pleasant feeling. (Of course, when I thought about reading in that sort of environment, I was picturing the DOME cafe at MidValley where it overlooks a park on slow days when no one's really around.) =P

2007 is going to be great.

Nascent

"beginning to exist."

January.06.2007:Saturday
I got one of these chain letters a long time ago at gaiaonline.com. More chain letters like this one started piling up. So, here's my share. Feel free to email me your version if you're bored =P

These surveys come around every now and then - thankfully each is a little different from the last! This is what you're supposed to do...and try not to be LAME and spoil the fun! Just give in. Copy (don't forward) this entire e-mail and paste it into a new e-mail. Don't forget to delete out all the other e-mail addresses so this doesn't get impossibly long.
